چکیده

In this paper, a kinematic model of a dual-arm/hand robotic system is derived, which allows the computation of the object position and orientation from the joint variables of each arm and each finger as well as from a suitable set of contact variables. On the basis of this model, a motion planner is designed, where the kinematic redundancy of the system is exploited to satisfy some secondary tasks aimed at ensuring grasp stability and manipulation dexterity, without violating physical constraints. To this purpose, a prioritized task sequencing with smooth transitions between tasks is adopted. Afterward, a controller is designed so as to execute the motion references provided by the planner and, at the same time, achieve a desired contact force exerted by each finger on the grasped object. To this end, a parallel position/force control is considered. A simulation case study has been developed by using the dynamic simulator GRASPIT!, that has been suitably adapted and redistributed.

Efficient Motion and Grasp Planning for Humanoid Robots

The control system of a robot operating in a human-centered environments should address the problem of motion planning to generate collision-free motions for grasping and manipulation tasks. To deal with the complexity of these tasks in such environments, different motion planning algorithms can be used. We present a motion planning framework for manipulation and grasping tasks consisting of di...

Control of rolling contacts in multi-arm manipulation

When multiple arms are used to manipulate a large object, it is beneficial and sometimes necessary to maintain and control contacts between the object and the effector (the contacting surface of an arm) through force closure. Rolling and/or sliding can occur at these contacts, and the system is characterized by holonomic as well as nonholonomic (including unilateral) constraints. In this paper,...

Planning manipulation movements of a dual-arm system considering obstacle removing

The paper deals with the problem of planning movements of two hand-arm robotic systems, considering the possibility of using the robot hands to remove potential obstacles in order to obtain a free access to grasp a desired object. The approach is based on a variation of a Probabilistic Road Map that does not rule out the samples implying collisions with removable objects but instead classifies ...

The Planning and Control of Robot Dextrous Manipultation

Dextrous manipulation is a fundamental problem in the study of multi ngered robotic hands. Given a robotic hand and an object to be manipulated by the hand in an environment lled with obstacles, the main objectives of dextrous manipulation are to have the hand grasp the object and transfer it from a start con guration to a goal con guration without collision. To ful ll such a task in general, w...
